In the following the elements are described briefly:
The measuring mat
The measuring mat is put underneath the saddle (naturally also with saddlecloth). The measuring mat contains the sensors, which measure the pressure affecting the horse. 256 thin section sensors are in the mat, which measure the pressure on the bearing surface for saddles of all kinds of riding by their arrangement perfectly. The mat possesses an extremely thin design. Thus adapts you completely without tension to the horseback. For that a falsification of the results of measurement is impossible. This sensor–pad is the most expensive and most sensitive element of the saddling tester.
The black box:
The black box contains briefly said the electronic. The task of the electronic is to scan the sensors in the pad and transfer the data via radio to the computer. The scanning rate of the sensors is dependent performance of your computer and by the efficiency of the graphic equipment of the same. The computer is strongly demanded by the visualization of the camera pictures and can impair the system performance strongly by insufficient memory. The box is approx. 20 cm long, 10 cm wide and 4 cm deep. It contains a battery box, in which four commercial Mignon batteries (LR6) are used as power supply. The box is usually carried when measuring in a backpack. By using of industrial components the robustness and reliability are guaranteed.
The software:
The Software receives the radio signal of the black box and visualizes the measuring data for the saddle salesman and customer. These measuring data can be interpolated depending upon existing computer performance in differently gradations. Here we do not use the isobar representation, in which different measured values are summarized and represented in sparse uniform colours, but we assign each point an associated colour. Hereby we achieve a clearly higher force of expression of the analysis by use of many colours and more exact nuance on the one hand; on the other hand it is easier to interpret the result of measurement.
An absolute new development is the video window. There the rider with its horse is to be observed. That is indispensable for a respectable analysis. By the body attitude of horse and rider as well as by the assistance implemented by the rider is considerably affected the application of force on the horse and is with an analysis not to be neglected. As recording equipment can be used Webcams, video cameras in addition, digital cameras with video Out signal.
